Gameweek 7: the 3-5-2 that scores 89.5 xP
The best possible XI for Gameweek 7 lines up in a 3-5-2, projecting 89.5 expected points with the captain's double counted — a squad that would cost £85.1m if you had to pay for it.
The armband goes to Haaland (MCI, 9.1 xP vs IPS at home), with Saka as vice. Up front: Haaland (9.1 xP), João Pedro (7.9 xP). In midfield: Saka (8.2 xP), B.Fernandes (7.9 xP), Mbeumo (7.5 xP), Cherki (7 xP), Tavernier (7.2 xP).

How to use the Overpowered 11 for your real team
Treat this XI as the week's target list. If a player here is already in your squad, they're a strong start; if your captain candidate isn't on this list at all, that's a signal to reconsider. Players who make the Overpowered 11 repeatedly across gameweeks are the premium assets worth restructuring your budget around.
The gap between your team's expected points and this ceiling is also a health check: a large, persistent gap usually means dead money on your bench or premium players in poor fixture runs.
The rules the algorithm respects
Only two constraints from real FPL carry over: a legal formation (1 GKP, 3–5 DEF, 2–5 MID, 1–3 FWD) and a maximum of three players from any one club. Budget is ignored by design. Injured and suspended players, and anyone with a 0% chance of playing, are excluded; blank gameweek teams score zero and never appear.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Overpowered 11?+
The Overpowered 11 is the best possible FPL starting XI you could field this gameweek if money were no object. It's built from all ~700 Premier League players using expected points (xP), respecting only FPL's squad rules: a legal formation and a maximum of 3 players per club — but with no budget cap.
How is each player's xP calculated?+
Expected points combine projected minutes, expected goals and assists per 90, clean sheet probability from team strength models, defensive contribution (CBIRT) likelihood, and set piece involvement — all adjusted for this week's fixture difficulty and home advantage. Players in a double gameweek have xP summed across both fixtures.
Why is the captain's xP doubled?+
In FPL your captain scores double points, so the team total here includes the captain bonus — exactly what the XI would score if every player hit their expected points. The captain pick prefers midfielders and forwards on near-ties because attacking returns are less variance-prone than clean sheets.
Can I actually afford this team?+
Almost certainly not — that's the point. The Overpowered 11 shows the ceiling. Use it as a target list: the players on it are the strongest picks of the week, and the ones appearing week after week are the premium assets worth building your real squad around. The WassupFPL optimizer does the budget-constrained version for your actual team.
How often does the Overpowered 11 update?+
It recalculates from fresh FPL data throughout the day, at most 15 minutes between updates, and rolls over to the next gameweek after each deadline.
